ABOUT US



Tishawna Hurns Dawson is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Shining Star Educational Services.  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Master of Public Administration degree with a concentration in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from Auburn University Montgomery.  She has received numerous certificates in the area of leadership and management both professionally and academically.  She has 

developed and managed educational programs for the McWane Science Museum and schools in the Birmingham and Montgomery areas and the University of Florida.

Tishawna has volunteered and worked with children for over 20 years serving as a Youth Director and Choir Director for her church, a Volunteer Room Mother at an elementary school, Troop Mom for the Girl Scouts of America, Assistant Cheer Coach for the Calera Youth Football League, and a Volunteer Parent Involvement Committee Treasurer for a Birmingham daycare center.  She has over 20 years of experience in providing exceptional customer service.  Her overall goal is to consistently provide the highest quality of services to her clients and maintain a positive and professional network.

 

Tishawna is currently employed with a federal agency and is an online adjunct professor for the University of Florida within the College of Journalism and Communications which is rated in the top nationally among all colleges and universities.  She is married to Jamil and they have four children, one of whom is a student at the University of Alabama and three who are students in the Shelby County school system.
